Charles had a highly successful 15-year career with Schlumberger, prior to joining Expro as Chief Executive Officer. Starting as a field engineer, Charles rose through the management ranks to become Schlumberger’s President of Wireline, in 2006.
Three years later, following a successful period of growth, Charles was promoted to Vice President for Engineering, Manufacturing and Sustaining reporting to the Chief Executive Officer.
A UK national, Charles studied Electrical Engineering and holds a BA, MA and PhD from Cambridge University and an MBA from Erasmus University. Charles was appointed to the Expro board in September 2010.
Michael had a very successful career with Schlumberger and with Vallourec & Mannesmann, spanning 16-years, leading the commercial activities across North America, directing global research and development, as well as managing sales and strategy for the region. Within Schlumberger Michael held senior roles in wireline, completions, well testing and subsea, including Vice President Well Testing and Subsea, responsible for North and South America. Michael was appointed to the Expro board in May 2011.
Jean has extensive experience working for multi-national companies, including 12-years at Schlumberger, where he worked for Charles Woodburn as Finance Director of the wireline business. Prior to that, Jean was Corporate Director of Risk at Alcan and CFO at Formfactor.
Jean holds an MSE in mechanical engineering from Ecole Centrale de Lyon in France and an MBA in finance and accounting from the University of Chicago, Booth.
Jean was appointed to the Expro board in January 2012.
Prior to joining Expro, John worked at the law firm Clifford Chance before moving to work in the energy sector, holding positions with BG Group PLC, Lattice Group PLC and latterly National Grid PLC.
John was appointed Group General Counsel and joined the Board in June 2006.
Andy Richards has worked for Expro for 17 years and was previously the Group’s Technical and Product Line Director. Prior to working for Expro, Andy worked for Shell International as a Reservoir and Subsea Development Engineer. He has degrees in Physics and Geophysics.
Alistair has enjoyed a successful 27-year career in the oil and gas industry, having started his career with BP and held senior management roles at Mobil / Exxon Mobil, BG Group and Weatherford International. He joined Expro from Weatherford where he most recently held the position of Vice President for the Asia Pacific region.
Alistair has a BSc in chemical engineering from Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh.
Gary has extensive experience working in the energy sector, initially starting his career as a design draftsman in the control system business, where he gained a TEC/HTEC in Mechanical and Production Engineering.
Gary was previously Expro’s director of production and testing solutions, before continuing his career at Precision Drilling, Tarpon Energy Services and Weatherford International. After re-joining Expro, Gary is now responsible for the Well Test, Production, DST, MPM and Product Sales businesses within the company portfolio.
Gary was born in London but has enjoyed an international career, working in Europe, West Africa, America, Canada and Asia.
Nigel originally joined Expro in 1974 as one of the first well test trainees. After eight years in operational roles, Nigel moved into management including 10 years in Aberdeen as Europe region director and four years as Asia region director.
After leaving Expro in 2004, Nigel joined Power Well Services (PWS) as vice-president for Europe and Africa, before moving to Kuala Lumpur as Asia vice-president in 2005.
In 2006, following Expro’s acquisition of PWS, Nigel moved to Production Testers International (PTI) as chief operating officer, in Bangkok, and after a period of sustained growth, rejoined Expro in 2010 after the acquisition of the PTI business by Expro.
The non-executive team
Sir George was born, raised and educated in the UK, has a PhD in Engineering, and also holds a B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and an honorary D.Sc. in Engineering.
He joined Expro as Chairman in June, 2012, following his retirement from global blue-chip manufacturer, 3M, where he was the US-based Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer.
Prior to leading 3M, Sir George was Chairman and CEO of Brunswick Corporation, following a successful tenure as President of the US Electric Motors Division and the Automotive and Precision Motors Division of Emerson Electric Co. in St. Louis. Previously, he was Managing Director (President) of the Central Services Division of the British Railways Board. Sir George received his knighthood in the Queen’s birthday honours list, in 2011, marking decades of achievement in industry.
Appointments made subsequent to Expro’s acquisition by the Umbrellastream consortium in 2008 are by Expro International Group Holdings Ltd. Previously, appointments were by Expro International Group PLC.
