Expro’s Multiphase Pumping as a low Capex solution to late in life wells
Customer challenges
  • Our customer operates a large oil and gas producing field onshore Algeria, where a considerable number of late in life wells were lacking the pressure to flow to the downstream CPF facilities, or the customer wishes to produce wells at a lower pressure to achieve higher volumes
  • Several solutions exist on the market for these challenges; however, our multiphase pumps offer superior footprint, deployment time, and efficiency over others
  • As such, the customer requested Expro to mobilize several multiphase pump packages on a fast-track basis to exploit their late in life wells on a low Capex basis
Expro Excellence
  • Expro mobilized twelve multiphase pump packages to different remote locations in Algeria to overcome the low-pressure challenges of the late in life wells on a call-out rental basis
  • We experienced significant challenges due to global COVID restrictions, but Expro still delivered and are achieving greater than 99% uptime at all facilities
  • The multiphase pump packages are designed in two configurations, a 460-kW system and a 1.8 MW system, which are able to handle a broad spectrum of 40 m3/h to 1500 m3/h of gross fluids, from 2 to 90 bar differential, depending on the application up to a gas void fraction (GVF) of 99%
  • Expro’s multiphase pump systems are completely unmanned and thanks to our novel Data to Desk system, Expro is able to reduce personnel on site, therefore reducing HSE and operational risk, allowing for real-time data monitoring via web browser and remote control of the multiphase pumps and instruments at all sites from a central control room, located at the Expro base
Value to client
  • Through Expro's standardized modular package design  and commitment to quality, safety, and superior project execution, multiphase pumps are mobilized on an extremely fast-track basis to  extend the life of wells and produce other low pressure systems with low Capex outlay for the customer
  • The unmanned technology application, is assuring full safe operations and full production rate, in every possible working condition
  • Further, through Expro's rich track record in operations and maintenance of rotating machinery throughout the world, Expro's operations team has developed a keen understanding and insight into the optimization and efficiency of multiphase pumping systems - allowing our customers to achieve lower Opex outlays and reducing system complexities
