Expro Excellence
Well Intervention and Integrity
Well intervention package offers an alternative to workover and reinstalls production
Customer challenges
  • Expro has partnered our customer for over 30 years and we are their primary key provider for well intervention
  • A producing well in an offshore field had experienced failed sand screens in the lower completion preventing any further production from the reservoir
  • Our team was contacted by the customer and were briefed on the condition and status of the well
  • We were immediately able to identify a solution to the challenges they were experiencing
Expro Excellence
  • The initial intervention objective was to recover the sand screen assemblies safely and efficiently using conventional wireline methods
  • Utilising Expro's latest Heavy Duty Fishing (HDF) high impact tool string and 7/32" Dyform braided cable, initial attempts were hampered due to downhole conditions
  • Expro had to customise the tool string to suit a non-standard fish neck utilising the knowledge and expertise of our preferred tooling partner LiMAR
  • Heavy duty 5/16" Dyform braided cable was then utilised in combination with our HDF tool string and a LiMAR bespoke downhole assembly to successfully retrieve the sand screen assemblies in two separate runs
  • During the second run part of the lower screen was left downhole, through successful planning Expro had within our inventory onsite planned for contingency tooling and our heavy duty overshot was deployed to retrieve the part and allow the operation to continue with minimal disruption to timings
  • Proven heavy duty fishing expertise and project management
Value to client
  • Expro provided a solutions-based service with bespoke tooling options
  • Our detailed contingency planning always ensured the progression of the work scope
  • The intervention was executed with focus on HSEQ performance and customer objectives
  • The customer's production from the well was safely and successfully reinstated
