Expro raises $1,000 for Houston Food Bank during Offshore Technology Conference

23rd May 2014

Every year during the Offshore Technology Conference, oil and gas companies from all over the world descend on Houston, focused on making strategic business connections and eager to learn more about the industry’s latest technologies. But Expro, a leading international oilfield services company, had another mission during this year’s show – to help feed Houston’s hungry.

Expro donated $10 on behalf of each attendee who participated in the company’s daily technical presentations, taking place inside the company’s tradeshow booth during the four-day event at Reliant Center. At the start of the presentations, which focused on a range of Expro’s technology, employees advised attendees that their participation in the event helped raise money for a worthy cause.

The final tally? Expro donated $1,000 to the Houston Food Bank on behalf of OTC attendees who took part in this collaborative effort.

“We are honored to be a part of the most influential event in our industry, but this year was even more special at OTC,” said Mark Enget, Expro NAL Region Director. “While Expro’s core business is well flow management, our business is people-driven. Thanks to the combined efforts of our colleagues and attendees, we were able to make an exceptional number of industry connections, all while giving back in the fight against hunger in Houston.”

For every $1 donated, the Houston Food Bank can provide a person with an entire day’s meals. Expro’s commitment will help to provide 3,000 meals and bring awareness to this widespread problem.

“We appreciate the efforts of Expro to help put food on the tables of the hungry in Houston,” says Brian Greene, president/CEO of Houston Food Bank. “The Offshore Technology Conference is a great example of collaboration; just like Expro donating $10 per person who stops by their booth. With each dollar donated the Food Bank is able to provide three meals. Thank you for the generosity.”

The Houston Food Bank feeds 137,000 hungry people each week. Last year alone it served over 64 million nutritious meals and has been at the heart of the local community for 32 years leading the fight against hunger.
