Where the tubing retrievable safety valve or control line has failed, FlowCAT provides a more dependable alternative to ambient valves or storm chokes. Being retrofitted, surface controlled and fail-safe, FlowCAT provides a cost effective alternative to performing a well workover and enhances the integrity and safety of the well.
The CaTS™ wireless telemetry is also being used to control the FlowCAT retrofit downhole safety valve which can be deployed into the well using slickline. A signal is transmitted continuously from surface which keeps the valve open. If the signal transmission is interrupted or an emergency shut down event occurs then the valve closes, providing a fail safe system which offers several advantages over traditional ‘storm chokes’.
